Lesmurdie Falls National Park

The Lesmurdie Falls National Park in the Perth Hills is tiny. To all intents and purposes, it’s part of the Mundy Regional Park. But Lesmurdie Falls is arguably the most popular waterfall near Perth. That’s at least partly because it’s so close to the city, surrounded by suburbia. The Lesmurdie Falls car park is just a half hour drive from Elizabeth Quay.

Lesmurdie Falls sees the Lesmurdie Brook drop 50 metres over the Darling Scarp. Most of the time, Lesmurdie Falls is dainty rather than powerful. Do not expect Niagara at this Perth waterfall.

Walks from Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area car park

This part of the Mundy Regional Park is best explored on foot. There’s a large car park by the Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area, from which a several walking trails depart.

The easiest of these Lesmurdie Falls walks is the Falls Trail. This is an easy 640 metre return walk, taking about 30 minutes. The Falls Trail follows Lesmurdie Brook to the waterfall, offering lookouts over the Swan Coastal Plain, city and Rottnest Island.

The Cascade Trail is shorter, but trickier, showing off the Cascade – a rapid on Lesmurdie Brook. This is only 300m long, but over uneven surfaces and steps.
