Ebor Falls: Is this the best Guy Fawkes River National Park waterfall?

Ebor Falls in the Guy Fawkes River National Park is on the Waterfall Way between Armidale and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales. Turn left at Ebor Falls Road about 80km from Armidale.

Inland New South Wales has no shortage of beautiful waterfalls. In fact, several of them have been strung together as a driving route branded the Waterfall Way. The Waterfall Way stretches 185km from Coffs Harbour to Armidale via Bellingen and Dorrigo, although some of the waterfalls require a slight detour.

One of these worthwhile diversions is Ebor Falls in the Guy Fawkes River National Park. The nearest town is Ebor, but if coming from Armidale, Ebor Falls is an 80km drive. Head out along the Waterfall Way/ B78, then turn left at the Ebor Falls Road just before entering the small town of Ebor. It is right at the southern tip of the Guy Fawkes River National Park.

Ebor Falls car parks and walks

There are two car parks available at Ebor Falls. The Ebor Falls visitors car park is near the top of the falls, and the Lower Ebor Falls car park slightly further along.

One of the most beautiful hidden places in NSW, Ebor Falls has two separate sections, but the Guy Fawkes River plunges a total of 100 metres down them. The cascade through the gorge can be taken in from three lookouts. There are viewing platforms at the upper falls and lower falls, plus a third looking over the valley.

The Ebor Falls walking track linking the upper falls and lower falls lookouts heads along the edge of the escarpment. It’s fairly easy going, and there’s a grassy picnic area next to the falls. Entry is free, and there’s no need for a 4WD vehicle – the Ebor Falls car parks are perfectly accessible in a conventional car.

Best Ebor Falls lookout

If just picking one section of Ebor Falls for a quick photo stop on the way from Coffs Harbour to Armidale (or vice versa), the Upper Falls is bigger and more spectacular. But in all honesty, it’s not going to take too much out of your day to take Ebor Falls in from both angles.

If spending a bit of time in Armidale, try taking a helicopter tour over more waterfalls in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.
