Jimbour House, QLD: Dalby historic wedding venue tours

Jimbour House near Dalby is a historic mansion on the Darling Downs’ first fully-stocked cattle station. This heritage-listed house is usually used for weddings and events, but you can book a tour of the residence and gardens.

What is Jimbour House?

Jimbour House is a historic house near Dalby in the Darling Downs region of Queensland. It was originally built in 1870 as the centrepiece of the Jimbour Station – the first fully stocked cattle station on the Darling Downs.

Jimbour Station was a pioneer in the cattle industry, and led the way for the settlement and transformation of the Darling Downs.

The two story mansion has a mix of architectural styles, with French doors, a Welsh slate roof, Tuscan-style columns and distinctly Queensland-style verandas.

The house is surrounded by carefully-tended gardens, and is a popular wedding and events venue.

Where is Jimbour House?

Jimbour House is 28km north of Dalby in the Darling Downs region of Queensland. To get there from Dalby, drive up the Dalby-Jandowae Road (also known as State Route 82). The drive from Dalby to Jimbour House takes about 21 minutes.

Jimbour House tours

If not coming to Jimbour House for a wedding or event, you can take a tour of Jimbour House, but you’ll have to time it right. The Jimbour House residence and gardens tour runs every Thursday at 10.30.

There’s also an extra tour on the first Wednesday of every month. These guided tours of Jimbour House last an hour and cost $35.

Alternatively, you can take a self-guided tour of the gardens for $10. These Jimbour House gardens tours are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
