Outback Splash winter attractions

There are plenty of year-round attractions at Outback Splash. There’s a small wildlife section where you can meet a wombat, kangaroo and emu. There’s also a children’s playground and mini golf course, plus a series of mazes. One’s made of wood, one’s made of hedges, one’s made of tractor tyres and so on.

This is all well and good, and makes the park potentially worth a visit during the winter season. But let’s face it, the main reason to come to a water park is water slides.

Outback Splash water slides

There are plenty of water slides to enjoy at Outback Splash, too. The Plummet is the most fun of the inflatable slides. It’s 10 metres high, with a seven metre drop.

The Blackout goes for a black hole-style slide, with twists and turns in the darkness interspersed with dazzling light effects. It’s disorientating, and that’s the point. You emerge in the daylight, then gravity takes over for the run to the big splashdown.

For sheer speed, there’s the Gold Rush and the Wedgie. The Gold Rush is painted in a translucent gold and has lots of twists and turns. Riders can reach speeds of up to 60km per hour.

The Wedgie goes even faster, hitting speed of up to 75km per hour. It’s the fastest body slide in Western Australia, and is a real test of nerve. There’s a huge, near-vertical drop, and you’re flushed down it by the flow of 100 tonnes of water per hour.
