The quickest route from Sydney to Oberon leaves Sydney along the M4, passing Parramatta and the Prospect Reservoir.

However, you’ll need to branch off the Great Western Highway just after the Hartley Historic site and head down Jenolan Caves Road. This winds past the Millionth Acre Recreation Area, a free camping site on the edge of the Hartley State Forest.
This is also where you branch off down Duckmaloi Road, which meanders north of the Jenolan State Forest towards Duckmaloi, then Oberon.
