What is so interesting about Lake George?

Lake George is an endorheic lake, which means no water from it flows out into rivers and oceans. This means water levels can change fairly dramatically depending on how much rainfall there has been in recent months.

Come in a time of plentiful rainfall, and you’ll see twinkling water across the horizon from the Weereewa Lookout.

Come in a time of drought, and you’ll see livestock grazing on the plains from this Lake George Lookout.

What can I see at the Weereewa Lookout?

One key thing to observe at the Weereewa Lookout are the rocks that form the Lake George Fault. This is the fault line that rose hundreds of thousands of years ago, cutting off the small streams that drained Lake George, turning it into what it is today.

Aside from the car park, there are no facilities at the Weereewa Lookout. If you need a toilet stop, swing round to the public toilets at the neighbouring Anderson VC Rest Area.
