Where is SAS Australia filmed?
The SAS Australia filming location has moved every season. But the main bases have been Berridale in the Snowy Mountains, the Capertee Valley near Lithgow and an abandoned coal mine near Dapto.

SAS Australia – more formally known as SAS Australia: Who Dares Wins – is another hit. The show involves celebrities being put through a military training regime, with very few passing after a series of tough challenges.

But where is SAS Australia filmed? Well, it depends which episode you’re watching.
The first series of SAS Australia was initially filmed around Queenstown, New Zealand. But Covid restrictions put paid to that, and filming switched to New South Wales. A property was scouted near Berridale in the Snowy Mountains, with the crew staying in nearby Jindabyne while filming.
For the second series, aired in 2021, filming switched to the Capertee Valley. This long, wide canyon is at the north-western end of the Blue Mountains, just under halfway between Lithgow and Mudgee.
SAS Australia 2022 filming location
The third series of SAS Australia, airing in 2022, moved to a different location, however. This was shot around an abandoned coal mine near Dapto.
Dapto is a southern suburb of Wollongong, on the western side of Lake Illawarra. The mine site is at the western end, surrounded by mountains. That it gets so remote, so quickly away from the coastal strip is testament to the dividing line power of the Illawarra Escarpment.
