Il Lido espresso bar

The former Lido Cabaret has given way to Il Lido, which plumps for a relaxed vibe. There’s an espresso bar if you just want to grab a coffee to go, while there’s also an emphasis on snacky pastries. The coffee comes courtesy of Perth-based roasters Mano A Mano, and it’s a great spot for a perk-up just before you hit the beach.

Pasta and wine are the other main focuses, although Sundays are gleefully billed as Oyster Sundays”.

But what Il Lido does best is promotions that aim to broaden guests’ horizons of Italian food.

For example, in 2021, Il Lido showcased four local dishes from one of Italy’s 20 regions. Each week, the region changed. So lunch one week could be Sicilian, the next offering the best of Valle d’Aosta and the next Tuscan classics.

Italian restaurant at Cottesloe Beach

A large part of Il Lido’s appeal, of course, is the location. The restaurant is at 88 Marine Parade in Cottesloe, facing Perth’s most popular beach. It’s at the southern end of the beach, near the Sea View Golf Club and Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club.
