Is the Newstead Brewery, Milton, the best Newstead Brewing Co venue?

The Newstead Brewing Co in Brisbane has two locations. The original Newstead Brewery is on Doggett Street in Newstead. The production brewery is in Milton, but can fill with rugby league fans.

The Newstead Brewing Co is one of Australia’s top craft brewers, and it has two separate sites in Brisbane.

The original Newstead Brewery is on Doggett Street in the Newstead neighbourhood. This is essentially an extension of nightlife-heavy Fortitude Valley.

However, in 2017, the Newstead Brewing Co expanded its operations. The original Newstead Brewery on Doggett Street was too small, so this Brisbane craft brewer built a new production facility on Castlemaine Street in Milton.

The Newstead Brewery Milton site is on the north-western side of Brisbane CBD, right next to the Suncorp Stadium. It’s bigger, and can often fill with rugby league fans on game days.

If you’re picking the best Newstead Brewery site to visit, then the Milton brewpub is where most of the beer is made.

But Doggett Street in Newstead has the original location authenticity, and is less rowdy when there’s a rugby league match on.

Newstead Brewing Co food and beers

Both Newstead Brewing Co locations offer classic pub food – pizzas, burgers, chicken parmas and chicken wings.

But it’s the beer you come for, and the Newstead Brewery has built up quite a range over the years. The core range includes the Mayne Thing, a golden lager, and the 3 Quarter Time session ale.

For something a little stronger, there’s the 21 Feet 7 Inches porter and the Two to the Valley India pale ale.

The Newstead Brewery also produces an apple cider, a golden ale and a pale ale, which are on tap at the Newstead brewpubs.

Craft breweries in Brisbane

Other craft brewers worth a look in Brisbane include Felons Brewing Co, Black Hops and Range Brewing. The latter is also in Newstead, which has a strong claim to being Queensland’s microbrewing hotbed.
