Pancakes on the Rocks: Menu and restaurant locations

The Pancakes on the Rocks restaurant chain is mainly based in Sydney, and its multiple option pancake menu is the major part of the appeal.

Pancakes on the Rocks is an Australian chain restaurant, which started as a single pancake joint in Sydney’s historic Rocks neighbourhood.

The original Pancakes on the Rocks restaurant opened on Hickson Road, Sydney, in August 1975. For almost two decades it was a lone soldier, specialising largely in the pancakes that the name suggests.

In 1994, however, there was a change of plan. A new Pancakes on the Rocks menu came in, with pizzas, a range of salads plus beef and pork ribs added to the mix. Before long, the original Rocks restaurant became a popular spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast is still the big thing at Pancakes on the Rocks, however, and it is served all day during opening hours. There may be other things on the Pancakes on the Rocks menu, but it’s the pancakes that people really come for.

Most of the ‘famous pancakes’ on the Pancakes on the Rocks menu cost between $13.95 and $15.95. Flavours available include Blueberry Heaven, lemon meringue, chocolate peanut butter and Black Forest cherry. Alternatively, you can plump for options with strawberries, macadamias, apple or Nutella.

Pancakes on the Rocks Northmead and other outlets

At time of writing, there are six Pancakes on the Rocks restaurants in Australia. The original is still there on Playfair Street in the Rocks, but there are also options in the Harbourside shopping centre at Darling Harbour and Darling Square at Haymarket.

The chain has also branched out into suburban Sydney with Pancakes on the Rocks Northmead and Beverley Hills. The only interstate outlet at the moment is in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
