What is the Z Bend Lookout?

The Z Bend Lookout is a lookout in Kalbarri National Park, near the town of Kalbarri in Western Australia. It overhangs a bend in the Murchison River, which cuts a gorge through the red rock cliffs.

Where is the Z Bend Lookout?

The Z Bend Lookout is in the inland section of Kalbarri National Park, which is approximately 36km east of Kalbarri.

Note that it is not in the better-known Loop section of Kalbarri National Park, which contains Nature’s Window and the Kalbarri Skywalk. The Z Bend Lookout is a little further to the south, and accessed via a different road.

How to get to the Z Bend Lookout, Kalbarri

From the Z Bend car park, it’s a 600 metre walk to the Z Bend Lookout. This is a reasonably easy walk, but there are steps along the way.

Visitors with higher fitness levels may wish to consider a hike down into the gorge via the Four Ways Trail.

This class 4-graded walk is 6km return, and you should budget three to four hours for it, as the return leg of the hike is steep and tough going

What is the entry fee for the Z Bend Lookout?

It doesn’t cost anything to visit the Z Bend Lookout in particular, but there is a charge to visit Kalbarri National Park. At the time of writing, the entry fee for Kalbarri National Park is $15 per vehicle.
