Adelaide to Murray Bridge drive: Hahndorf and Mt Barker

German-tinged Hahndorf is a fabulous place to stop. It hosts excellent Adelaide Hills wineries such as the Sidewood Estate, The Lane and the Hahndorf Hill Winery. You can also enjoy German-style beers and food at the Hahndorf Inn or German Arms Hotel, or visit artist Hans Heysen’s studio at the Cedars. Kids, meanwhile, will enjoy petting the animals at the Hahndorf Farm Barn.

At the eastern end of the Adelaide Hills, the Princes Highway passes through Mt Barker. Attractions here include the Prancing Pony Brewery, SteamRanger Heritage Railway, Howard Vineyard and Berrigan Wines. You can also stretch the legs and walk to the Mt Barker Summit Lookout.
