Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout, Queensland: What can I see?

The Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout just off the Bruce Highway near Caboolture offers 360 degree views, taking in the Glass House Mountains and Moreton Bay.

The Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout in the Beerburrum State Forest, Queensland, is well worth pulling off the Bruce Highway for.

This spectacular lookout is between Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast on the drive north from Brisbane to Noosa.

Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout walk

Take exit 171 from the M1 and it’s a short drive to the Wild Horse Mountain car park. From here, it’s a short walk to the lookout – the trail is around 700 metres one way – but a pretty steep one. You don’t need to be super fit to reach the Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout, but it’s still a solid workout.

There’s a decent chance of seeing wildlife amongst the grass trees and eucalypts on the way up. Kookaburras are regularly spotted on Wild Horse Mountain, for example.

Wild Horse Mountain fire tower

What makes the Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout a bit different, however, is the fire tower platform that gives a little extra elevation. The tower is open to visitors, and there are plenty of informational signs telling you about what you’re seeing.

And, quite frankly, from the top of the Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout, you’ll be seeing a lot.
