The best things to do in Caboolture, Queensland, are the Caboolture Historical Village and the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology.

Caboolture, Queensland, is a classic neither here nor there town. It’s not quite in Brisbane, and it’s not quite in the Sunshine Coast. It’s not quite on the coast and it’s not quite in the hinterland forest, lakes and mountains.

Hence most people to pass straight by Caboolture on the drive from Brisbane to Noosa or Brisbane to Hervey Bay.

Things to do in Caboolture, Queensland: Caboolture Historical Village

There are, however, a few things to do in Caboolture, Queensland. None of them are amazing, granted, but you can easily pass a day or so here if taking a Queensland road trip very slowly.

The Caboolture Historical Village is arguably top of the list of attractions. This recreated olde worlde town features several reconstructed buildings and some frankly odd mini museums. There’s a model railway, a bird and poultry museum and a maritime museum that’s not actually by the sea.

The Caboolture Historical Village is full of heart and enthusiasm, and has become a place where several nerdy special interest groups can showcase their passions.

What to do in Caboolture: Museums

There are a few other museums in Caboolture. The Caboolture Regional Art Gallery probably won’t detain you for too long, although it has free entry. Meanwhile, the Caboolture War Plane Museum is strictly for military plane enthusiasts.

Much more interesting is the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, which has something of an old school European and American museum vibe. This Caboolture attraction showcases collected works and artefacts from around the world. It flits from Renaissance paintings to ancient Mesopotamian finds.

These easiest way to get to Caboolture is on the Caboolture train line from Brisbane.

Most visitors, however, will head straight past Caboolture, maybe stopping at the Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout to the north.
