Spirit House, Yandina: Sunshine Coast cooking school & Asian restaurant

The Spirit House restaurant in Yandina, Queensland, offers destination dining in tropical gardens and an Asian cooking school.

Spirit House in Yandina, Queensland, offers more than your typical Asian restaurant. For a start, this Sunshine Coast restaurant is set among tropical gardens, next to a lagoon.

It is designed to look like a tropical film set, and pulls this off admirably.

Spirit House menu

Spirit House, Yandina, aims to be a destination restaurant, and therefore there is no a la carte menu. The idea is that you pick a dish from each of either three or four sections of the menu, with the whole dinner experience lasting two to two-and-a-half hours.

Go for three course, and the Spirit House fixed price menu costs $95. Opt for four courses and it’s $115.

Dishes you can plump for on the Spirit House menu include smoked salmon coconut soup, old school Siamese quail satay and Cambodian fatty lamb ribs.

One day it might be showing how to cook the restaurant’s favourite dishes, the next it might focus on fast Thai food. You can also opt to learn how to make curries, or cover a range of hot, sour, sweet and salty dishes.

Spirit House prices

These Sunshine Coast cooking courses generally last around four hours, costing $150 to $165. You get to eat as well – the dishes cooked during the class are served up to taste. And a complimentary glass of beer or wine is thrown in.
