The next stop on an Armidale to Tamworth road trip is Bendemeer. This is where the Oxley Highway joins the New England Highway. There’s a frozen in time feel about Bendemeer, but there’s not a great deal to do except have a few beers in the Bendemeer Hotel.
Just before you get to Moonbi, pull over for the Moonbi Lookout. This is another big granite outcrop you can walk to the top of for tremendous views of the New England countryside.
From there, you branch off the New England Highway in Tintinhull, then enter Tamworth from the north, passing close to the Botanical Gardens and Oxley Scenic Lookout.
