Top Bourke accommodation options

There’s not a great array of accommodation in Bourke, but these are the best bets in order of preference:

The first leg of the journey is the 160km drive from Bourke to Cobar along the Kidman Way. This road is also known as the B87.

Bourke to Broken Hill road trip attractions: Gundabooka National Park

The most interesting stop on this leg of the journey is Gunderbooka. This small town is the gateway to Gundabooka National Park, an outback national park is known for its Aboriginal rock art.

A steep 1.4km return walk will take you to the key Aboriginal Art site – Yapa (Mulgowan).

Other Gundabooka National Park walks include the 4.8km Little Mountain walking track from the Dry Tank campground. There’s plenty of mulga woodland and red dirt on the way to the Little Mountain Lookout.

But there are also wildflowers and good chances of emu and kangaroo sightings.
