Brisbane to Melbourne drive: Albury to Melbourne

There are plenty of things to do in Albury, and Victorian sister city Wodonga. Highlights include the Yindyamarra Sculpture Trail along the Murray River, Lake Hume and the fascinatingly historic Bonegilla Migrant Centre.

Good Albury accommodation picks include the resort-style Quality Resort Siesta, and the Best Western Hovell Tree Inn by the Murray River.

From here, you’re on the final Albury to Melbourne leg of the journey. This is 325km long, and should take around three-and-a-half hours. Good stops on the way include Glenrowan just outside Wangaratta. Here, you can learn the story of bushranger Ned Kelly’s last stand in the Victorian High Country.

Otherwise, you pass Benalla and Euroa on the way to Seymour. There are some wineries here, and after Seymour you can stop for a bushwalk in the Tallarook Ranges near Tallarook.

Of course, you might prefer to take a Brisbane to Melbourne flight instead…
