Otherwise, the next major leg of the journey is from Roma to Longreach. Once on the Landsborough Highway, you’ll pass through Augathella and Tambo, birthplace of Tambo Teddies.

Attractions in Augathella include the giant mural on the water tower and the Kenniff Tree, which is surrounded by tales of bushrangers.

Blackall is perhaps the best stop, however. Here, you can swim at the artesian bore-filled Blackall Aquatic Centre and get an education on the wool industry at the Blackall Wool Scour. The Blackall Coolibah Motel is a perfectly decent place for an overnight sleep.
