Castlemaine to Bendigo road trip attractions
First up is the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens, which are just off the Midland Highway as it heads north. You’re not on the Midland Highway for long, however, as it joins the Calder Freeway just outside Harcourt.
Harcourt, however, is arguably the best place to veer off the route. Here you can go wine-tasting at Blackjack Wines or Henry of Harcourt.
Harcourt’s top attraction, however, is the Mount Alexander Regional Park. The 4km long West Ridge walking track handily links the park’s best lookouts.
