Charters Towers to Cloncurry drive: Richmond and Julia Creek

It’s another 400km from Hughenden to Cloncurry, with the first town en route being Richmond, Queensland. Here, there’s more dinosaur and marine fossils at Kronosaurus Korner plus kid-friendly fun at the Kronosaurus Water Park.

The Midway Motel makes for a logical overnight stop – it’s about halfway along the drive.

Next up is Julia Creek, which has an artesian pool and a caravan park. You might get to join the staff at the Visitor Information Centre feeding the local dunnarts.

It’s another 137km from Julia Creek to Cloncurry.
