Coffs Harbour to Gold Coast road trip: Distance, drive time & stops
Coffs Harbour to Gold Coast road trip: Tweed Coast
It’s about 45 minutes from Byron Bay to Tweed Heads, the northernmost town on the New South Wales coast. The drive goes past Belongil Beach and the Tyagarah Nature Reserve on the way back to the Pacific Highway.
But there are also several sensational beaches further north, with Brunswick Heads arguably having the best. You can also kayak or cruise along the Brunswick River or take a snorkelling tour to Julian Rocks.
For Brunswick Heads accommodation, take a look at the stylish Brunswick and the pool-centred Sails Motel.
Keep going and Mooball National Park is to the west of the highway, while Pottsville, Hastings Point and Cabarita Beach are tempting detours along the coast.
Other attractions include tasting a panoply of unusual fruits and doing a farm tour at Tropical Fruit World in Duranbah. Or maybe rum-tasting at the Husk Distillery in Tumbulgum.
The highway rejoins the coast at Kingscliff, where Watersports Guru rents out kayaks.
