Geelong to Adelaide road trip: Dimboola to Bordertown

More of Little Desert National Park can also be accessed from Nhill, the next town along. You can also savour vintage planes at the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre and play on the weird and wonderful machines at the Australian Pinball Museum.

From Nhill, put your foot down and head across the South Australian border to the unimaginatively named Bordertown.

Top things to do in Bordertown include the Bob Hawke Museum – all about the former Australian Prime Minister – and seeing the white kangaroos at the Bordertown Wildlife Park.

Attractions between Geelong and Adelaide: Bordertown to Tailem Bend

Leaving Bordertown along the Dukes Highway, the first decent-sized town is Keith, which has a caravan park and golf course. It is most famous, however, for being the home of the Landrover Up A Pole. And, yes, it’s pretty much what the name suggests.

About 12km to the south, Mount Monster Conservation Park provides walks and wildlife around an imposing granite outcrop. This is a good spot for wildlife sightings.

Beyond Keith, Lake Indawarra in Tintinara is a decent place for a picnic, while Coonalpyn has a massive mural over its grain silos.

You can be forgiven, however, for bombing straight on through to Tailem Bend.

Things to do in Tailem Bend include tackling the Murray River walking loop and getting spooked out by the ghost tours at Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village.
