The best things to do in Nhill, Victoria, are the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre and the Australian Pinball Museum. You can also use the town as a gateway to Little Desert National Park.

Nhill, Victoria, is one of the most westerly towns in the state. You’ll pass through it on the Western Highway, just before reaching the South Australian border.

Nhill also lies just to the north of Little Desert National Park. Dimboola is the usual gateway for this national park, but one of the park’s highlights – the Stringybark Walk – is nearer Nhill.

Things to do in Nhill, Victoria: Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre

There are also a couple of things to do in Nhill without venturing into the national park. First up is the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre.

Five historic aircraft are currently on display here, but the main reason to visit is to learn about Nhill’s past as an Air Force training base. Around 10,000 men and women trained here during World War II.

What to do in Nhill: Australian Pinball Museum

Considerably more idiosyncratic is the Australian Pinball Museum, which collects pinball machines from across the ages. There are usually around 50 pinball machines on display, all of which are playable for one or two dollars.

There are plenty more machines in the collection, but they are regularly rotated with some put on display and others in storage. There are some rare machines in the collection, include some music-themed options dedicated to the likes of Kiss and AC/DC. There’s also plenty of pinball memorabilia on show.

The Australian Pinball Museum in Nhill, Victoria, is open between 11am and 9pm, seven days a week.
