Karratha to Broome road trip: Point Samson and Millstream-Chichester National Park

The first appealing detour on the Karratha to Broome road trip, however, is to Point Samson. Here, there are several beaches, the Point Samson caravan park and a self-guided heritage walking trail.

The Point Samson Jetty is photogenic, especially at sundown, while the eerie neighbouring ghost town of Cossack makes for an evocative side trip. The handsome blue stone buildings and the chilling sense of abandonment stay with you long after you’ve left.

Shortly after Roebourne comes the junction with the Roebourne-Wittenoom Road. Take it if you wish to explore the Millstream-Chichester National Park, with its attractive waterholes and winter wildflowers.
