Best stops between Melbourne and Wagga Wagga: Glenrowan and Wangaratta

Soon after comes Glenrowan, scene of infamous bushranger Ned Kelly’s last stand. Glenrowan is quickly followed by Wangaratta, which fancies itself as a city. Its highlights, however, are the beaches along the Ovens River. You can link some of them on the Bullawah Cultural Trail, which is signposted with information about local Indigenous culture.

The Quality Hotel Wangaratta is arguably the best place to stay in Wangaratta, and comes with a pool. Billabong Wangaratta is also well-reviewed.
