The distance from Mudgee to Dubbo by car is 126km, assuming you take the quickest route. This makes for a driving time of around one hour and 26 minutes.

The fastest route from Mudgee to Dubbo starts out along the Castlereagh Highway, past the Putta Bucca Wetlands. Should you wish to, you can stop for wine-tasting at Ernest Schuetz Estate Wines or Gooree Park. The latter is at the junction of the Castlereagh Highway and Guntawang Road, which you need to turn left down.

Keep going, following Pig and Whistle Creek, until you reach the Goolma Road, where you need to turn left again. The Mudgee to Dubbo drive then passes through Guntawang and Two Mile Flat, before crossing the Yamble Bridge over the Cudgegong River.

Mudgee to Dubbo drive: Dapper Nature Reserve

At Goolma, turn right up Gollan Road. This road touches the southern end of the Dapper Nature Reserve, which offers plenty of birdlife and lots of kangaroos.

When you finally reach Gollan, continue along Muronbung Road until it joins the Golden Highway (aka the B84). This highway continues into Dubbo.
