Sydney to Gerringong road trip: Wollongong to Gerringong
Once you’ve rejoined the Princes Highway in Wollongong, the route passes through Albion Park, a suburb of Shellharbour on Lake Illawarra’s southern edge.
Near Shellharbour, you can divert to surfer-favourite Killalea Beach or Minnamurra Beach at the end of a spectacular sandy spit.
The main town before Wollongong, however, is the hugely attractive Kiama. Major attractions here include the incredible basalt columns of the Bombo Headland and the exploding ocean at the Kiama Blowhole.
You can also go for a swim in the atmospheric Blowhole Point Ocean Pool.
Gerringong is just to the south of Kiama. Things to do in Gerringong include surfing at Werri Beach, swimming at the Boat Harbour Ocean Pool and beer-tasting at Stoic Brewing.
