By car, the distance from Sydney to Taree is 312km. That makes for a driving time of around three hours and 33 minutes, traffic permitting.

On the way out of Sydney through the northern suburbs, good places to stop include the Lane Cove National Park, Cumberland State Forest in West Pennant Hills and Rose Siedler House in Wahroonga. Minor detours will also take you to the gorgeous Bobbin Head picnic ground in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park or Galston Gorge in Berowra Waters National Park.
