Toowoomba to Bundaberg drive: Distance, time & road trip stops
Toowoomba to Bundaberg road trip: Nanango to Ban Ban Springs
Head north along the Burnett Highway, you’ll go past Lake Barambah – a popular spot for fishing – and reach Goomeri. There’s a swimming pool here, if you fancy a dip.
The next realistic stop is Ban Ban Springs, where the springs are a hugely important Aboriginal cultural site. There’s a petrol station here, too, but this is where you turn off the Burnett Highway and head down the Isis Highway.
Ban Ban Springs to Bundaberg
Coalstoun Lakes is the only settlement of any size before reaching Biggenden. Here, the Biggenden Historical Society covers local history and you can have another swim in the Biggenden Pool.
You’ll then pass through Dallarnil and turn off along the N S Road, bypassing Childers.
Childers, however, is arguably worth a visit. It’s a town crammed with historic buildings. It’s also home to the Snakes Downunder Reptile Park.
The quickest route will take you to the Bruce Highway, passing just north of the Flying High Bird Park.
To get to Bundaberg, you’ll need to turn down Childers Road.
Once on Childers Road, it’s mainly rural, but it’s a very short branch-off to the Cedars Bridge, a popular swimming and fishing spot on the Burnett River. You’ll also pass the north-western end of Bingera National Park, although that is not particularly set up for visitors.
