What is the Belgrave Line?

The Belgrave Line is a Metro line in Melbourne, Victoria. It runs through Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to the Dandenong Ranges.

Belgrave Line stops

The Belgrave Line starts at Parliament Station in Melbourne CBD, then does a loop of the city centre, stopping at Melbourne Central, Flagstaff, Southern Cross and Flinders Street. On the way east towards Belgrave, the Metro trains stop at Richmond, East Richmond, Burnley, Hawthorn, Glenferrie and Camberwell.

Next up are East Camberwell, Canterbury, Chatham, Union Station, Box Hill, Laburnum and Blackburn. Then come Nunawading, Mitcham, Heatherdale and Ringwood.

From here, the Belgrave Line turns south-east, stopping at Heathmont, Bayswater, Boronia, Ferntree Gully and Upper Ferntree Gully. The final three stations on the Belgrave Line are Upwey, Tecoma and Belgrave.

Not all Belgrave Line trains stop at all stations however.

Belgrave Line timetable

The Belgrave Line timetable changes fairly regularly, so look exact train times up on the Public Transport Victoria website before setting off.

At time of writing, however, the first Belgrave Line train of the day departs from Flinders Street Station at 05.02. This only goes as far as Ringwood, however.

The first train from Melbourne to Belgrave departs Parliament Station at 05.46 and Flinders Street Station at 06.00.

The last train from Flinders Street Station to Belgrave Station is at 12.05.

For most of the day, there are trains from Melbourne to Belgrave every half hour. Trains are more frequent during peak commuter hours, and less frequent in the early morning and evening.

The journey time from Flinders Street to Belgrave is around one hour and seven minutes, but varies slightly by service.
