Which train lines run through Penrith Train Station?
For visitors, the trains will be most important. Penrith is a good base for exploring Western Sydney, and the North Shore and Western Line heads there from Sydney CBD. This line – also known as the T1 – terminates just beyond Penrith in Emu Plains.
However, the Cumberland Line (or T5), which runs from Richmond to Campbelltown and doesn’t go anywhere near the CBD, also stops at Penrith Train Station. This makes it a handy connection hub.
Longer distance trains heading west go through Penrith as well. The Blue Mountains Line to Bathurst is the main one of note, but the Sydney to Dubbo train and Sydney to Broken Hill train also stop at Penrith.
Parking at Penrith Train Station
Penrith Train Station has a large commuter car park next to it, with 1,170 places available. Parking at Penrith Station is free and unlimited.
Other facilities at Penrith Train Station include a taxi rank, bike racks, bike lockers and a bike shed. You’ll also find machines where you can top up your Opal card.
