Moonta Bay caravan park: Rates for sites and cabins

The Moonta Bay caravan park on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula has a brilliant beachside location and good facilities for children. Accommodation costs from $50 per night.

Moonta Bay caravan park: Why stay?

Moonta Bay is a seaside suburb of Moonta on South Australia’s Copper Coast. And if you want to stay for a beach break on the cheap, then the Moonta Bay caravan park is probably your best bet. To book a stay, step this way…

The Moonta Bay caravan park – officially known as the Moonta Bay Holiday Park – has an amazing position on the foreshore. It’s right next to the Moonta Bay jetty and the small Splash Town water park. Oh yeah, and the beach is one of the best on the Yorke Peninsula.

The Moonta Bay caravan park boasts 166 metres of beach frontage. And if you’re just wanting a cheap beach holiday, you probably won’t care about much more than that. But as caravan parks in Australia go, there are some great facilities, too. Particularly for kids.

Moonta Bay caravan park facilities

The jumping pillow, totem tennis and new outdoor playground should let the youngsters burn off a bit of energy. There’s also a giant chess set and – more unusually – an outdoor movie cinema. This shows family-friendly movies, and guest are encouraged to bring their rug or deck chair.

The Moonta Bay Holiday Park also rents out kayaks and pedal karts.

Most of the accommodation on offer comes in the form of powered and unpowered sites, although there are some self-contained cabins sleeping four.

Moonta Bay caravan park rates

Unpowered sites at the Moonta Bay caravan park cost from $50 per night and powered sites cost from $59 per night. For an economy cabin, you’re looking at prices from $147 per night. By caravan park standards, this is reasonably expensive. Bookings can be made online.

The Moonta Bay Holiday Park is 164km north-west of Adelaide via Inkerman and Port Wakefield.

Other alternatives on the Copper Coast include Cornish heritage hotspot Kadina, beautifully beachy Port Hughes and Wallaroo, from where the Wallaroo ferry departs for Cowell on the Eyre Peninsula.
