What is Eagles Nest, Inverloch?

Eagles Nest, Inverloch is a gnarled sandstone stack. At high tide it is essentially a rock island stretching out to the skies. At low tide, you can walk along the newly-exposed rocky platform and explore it more thoroughly.

The walk from the car park to the Eagles Nest lookout is a relatively short one – about 300 metres. This lets you take the rock outcrop in from roughly level with the top.

If you want to get down to the base, however, you’ll need to head down the big old staircase to Eagles Nest Beach.

This is a relatively small beach, but it’s a spectacularly atmospheric one, backed by high cliffs and pummelled by crashing waves. Going for a swim here takes a hefty degree of either bravery or stupidity.

You can walk out to the rock platform at low tide from the beach.
