Mick Schamburg Park: The best lookout on the Gold Coast?

Mick Schamburg Park: The best lookout on the Gold Coast?

The Mick Schamburg Park Lookout on the Miami Headland between Burleigh Beach and Miami Beach is arguably the best lookout on the Gold Coast. There are sweeping views of the region in each direction.

Where is Mick Schamburg Park?

Mick Schamburg Park is a coastal park on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It is on top of the Miami Headland between Miami Beach and North Burleigh Beach. This Gold Coast park is a popular wedding venue, but most visitors come here for the sweeping views from the lookouts at the top of the headland.

There’s a strong argument for Mick Schamburg Park having the best lookout on the Gold Coast.

Mick Schamburg Park lookouts

That’s somewhat cheating, however, as there are three lookouts at Mick Schamburg Park. Two – the Lores Bonney Lookout and North Burleigh Lookout – provide views to the north along Miami Beach to the towers of Surfers Paradise.

The Mick Schamburg Park Lookout, on the very tip of the headland, is harder work to get to, but it offers views in both directions.

From the Mick Schamburg Park Lookout, you can see north to Surfers Paradise, as well as south towards Coolangatta Beach, Greenmount Beach, Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay Beach in Coolangatta.

Part of the reason why the Mick Schamburg Park Lookout is so impressive is that it is roughly half way up the Gold Coast – there’s an even split in the view each way.

Come during the Gold Coast’s whale season, and there’s a decent chance of seeing whales from the Mick Schamburg Park lookout.

Best day trips from the Gold Coast – 7 ways to improve your stay

The Gold Coast is a destination in its own right, but there are several excellent day trips you can do while using it as a base.

How to get to the Mick Schamburg Park Lookout

Mick Schamburg Park is on the Gold Coast Oceanway, a 36km network of pedestrian and cycle paths stretching along the Gold Coast. This grand oceanside walk is a work in progress, with new sections being added all the time. But it theoretically stretches from the Southport Spit opposite South Stradbroke Island to Point Danger, near Duranbah Beach over the New South Wales border in Tweed Heads.

You can approach the Mick Shamburg Lookout from either Miami Beach or Burleigh Beach. Come from Miami Beach, however, and you can climb the brightly painted Miami Rainbow Stairs on the way.
