The Rock Lookout over the Nepean Gorge is at the end of Fairlight Road in Mulgoa, NSW. Its also the trailhead for the Rileys Mountain Track, which leads to the Rileys Mountain Lookout.

Where is Mulgoa, NSW?

Technically part of the City of Penrith, Mulgoa is essentially a village on the cusp of Sydney. It feels not quite part of Sydney and not quite part of the Blue Mountains. Much of the area around Mulgoa, NSW, is bushland, however.

How to get to the Rock Lookout in Mulgoa, NSW

Getting to the Rock Lookout is fairly easy. From Penrith, head along Mulgoa Road until you reach Fairlight Road. Then simply follow Fairlight Road to the end. The last few kilometres of this road are unsealed, but

From here, the walk to the Rock Lookout is only a couple of hundred metres long.

The rock which gives the lookout its name has been a popular posing spot for around 200 years. It looks down upon the Nepean River as the gorge walls rise sharply on either side.

Rileys Mountain Lookout

If you fancy another view, or a bit more exercise, then the Rileys Mountain Track extends from the end of Fairlight Road. This 2.5km walking track leads to the Rileys Mountain Lookout, passing through eucalyptus forest along the way.
