Those who wish to swing their clubs in a more conventional manner will prefer Links Kennedy Bay. Making the most of its coastal setting, the Port Kennedy golf course is currently nine hole affair. It should fully reopen as an 18 hole course in 2023.

It may be short, but Links Kennedy Bay looks good and offers a challenge. The fairways run fast and the greens slope unpredictably. Full green fees, equipment hire charges and golf lesson costs are available on the course website.

Things to do in Port Kennedy, WA: Becher Point Wetlands and Lake Walyungup

To the south of Links Kennedy Bay are the Becher Point Wetlands. There’s plenty of birdlife in these wetlands, as well as the odd quenda or carpet python. But the wetlands are not particularly well set up for visitors.

An alternative is Lake Walyungup, to the north-east of Port Kennedy. This shallow, saline lake is popular with land sailors, although there’s a 5.8km loop walk to be done on the western shore.
