Four amazing places to swim on Fraser Island

Fraser Island swimming spots: Lake Wabby

Lake Wabby offers much of what Lake McKenzie does, but it tends to be much quieter. It also has fish inside it, which is another key point of difference.

What makes Lake Wabby stand out, however, is the green colour of the water. It is the deepest lake on K’gari, and is surrounded by sand dunes.

The most rewarding way to get to Lake Wabby is along the 4.1km Lake Wabby Walk, which should take about two hours and includes the Hammerstone Sandblow on the way.

The one day Fraser Island tours don’t tend to have enough time for Lake Wabby, although the two day K’gari Explorer tour does build it into the itinerary.
