Melbourne to Canberra road trip: Albury to Yass section

Near Albury on the New South Wales side of the border, Woomargama National Park makes for a wildlife and walking trail-filled diversion.

Otherwise, continue to Jugiong on the Murrumbidgee River. This town is a perfect lunch stop, with the Long Track Pantry being a notoriously good place to eat.

Shortly afterwards comes Gundagai, where the Australian Road Transport Heritage Centre is the top attraction. For impressive accommodation with plenty of character, take a look at the nearby Nimbo Fork Lodge or Kimo Estate.
