From Maryborough, most travellers will detour east to Hervey Bay. The highlight of the Fraser Coast is K’gari (Fraser Island) and Hervey Bay is where the River Heads ferry to Fraser Island departs from.

If you’re choosing to skip Fraser Island for some reason, the Maryborough to Bundaberg leg of the drive passes the Wongi State Forest.
