Melbourne to Inverloch distance and driving time

By car, the distance from Melbourne to Inverloch is 145km. That makes for a driving time of around one hour and 50 minutes. The quickest route takes the M1 through Melbourne’s south-western suburbs towards Pakenham before branching south on Koo Wee Rup Road.

At Koo Wee Rup, you join the South Gippsland Highway and head east, although you can take a little detour west if you want to enjoy the views from the Koo Wee Rup Observation Tower.

The next section of the Melbourne to Inverloch drive is very rural, with plenty of farms as the highway goes past Lang Lang and the Adams Creek Conservation Area.

Melbourne to Inverloch drive: Loch attractions

The small town of Loch is the first place to offer a few notable attractions. These include the Loch Suspension Bridge, Cape Horn Lookout and Gippsland Wine Company cellar door.

At Bena, branch off the highway onto the Bena-Kongwak Road then Andersons Inlet Road. This goes past Prom Country Cheese, should you fancy a dairy stock-up.

You then need to continue along the Korumburra-Wonthaggi Road, possibly with a photo stop at the Kongwak Scenic Lookout.

Melbourne to Inverloch road trip stops: Harman Wines

Just before Kongwak, drive south down the Inverloch-Kongwak Road. Harman Wines near Wattle Bank is another possible cellar door stop before arriving in Inverloch.

Great things to in Inverloch include snorkelling around Eagles Nest, swimming at Inverloch Beach and tackling the Ayr Creek Walk around Anderson Inlet.
