Melbourne to Seymour drive: Mount Ridley Lookout and Mount Disappointment

On the way out of Melbourne, the Mount Ridley Lookout in Craigieburn is a good place to see the suburban give way to the rural. A little further on, you can see Ned Kelly’s childhood home in Beveridge. It is in the process of being restored and opened to the public. The Hume Freeway then skirts Wallan. The walking trails of Mount Disappointment are a short detour to the east.

Melbourne to Seymour road trip: Tallarook

The Melbourne to Seymour drive continues past Heathcote Junction and Wandong. Keep going, and you’ll reach Tallarook, which has an outdoor pool and – perhaps more interestingly – a few nearby wineries. The Trawool Estate is open to visitors.

Seymour is just to the north of Tallarook.
