Sydney to the Entrance drive: Hawkesbury River and Brisbane Water National Park

Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River is where the Riverboat Postman cruises depart from. This unusual cruise is also a mail boat, delivering post to river communities such as Dangar Island.

On the other side of the Hawkesbury River Bridge in Mooney Mooney is the Broken Bay Pearl Farm. The pearl farm tour here gives a great insight into how pearls are cultivated.

Once over the river, you’re officially on the Central Coast. The motorway skims the edge of Brisbane Water National Park then runs close to the Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary and Australian Reptile Park on the way to Ourimbah. You can also stop to visit Somersby Falls or Strickland Falls without too much of a detour
