On the way out of Batemans Bay, you’ll pass through the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden and through Mogo. Animal-lovers might want to stop off here at the Mogo Wildlife Park.

There are also several lovely beach towns worthy of a diversion on the way to regional hub town MoruyaTomakinMossy Point and Broulee all line up near the mouth of the Tomaga River, with surfing and other water sports being the main priorities.

Where to stay in Moruya

Road trip essentials that many travellers forget

Search on the web, and you’ll find ludicrously long lists of equipment to take on a road trip. Australia Travel Questions isn’t going to do that to you. But it is worth buying the following road trip items before setting off. Click through for a good range of options.

Wollongong to Eden road trip: Moruya to Narooma

After Moruya, the Princes Highway bends around the Tuross River estuary and Borang Lake on the way to Narooma.

The Bodalla Dairy Shed just outside Bodalla is worth a stop, however. There are free cheese and ice cream tastings here, although you’ll inevitably want to buy afterwards.

In Narooma, activities include whale-watching, snorkelling with seals and Montague Island tours. Montague Island Adventures offers all three.

You can also explore using an e-bike rental.

Narooma accommodation picks include the Amooran Oceanside Apartments,  the cheaper Top of the Town Motor Inn and the family-friendly Surf Beach Narooma Holiday Park.
