Bridport, Tasmania, is a small town on the north east coast of Australia’s island state. This Tasmanian beach town is about an hour’s drive north-west of Launceston.
The Bridport beaches are very much the main attraction here. There are several along the shore of Anderson Bay, with Goftons Beach having the most regular lifesaver patrols. That makes it the most popular spot for swimmers, although Adams Beach generally has better conditions for surfing.
Mermaid’s Pool is another winner, especially at high tide, when the surrounding rocks make for a sheltered swimming pool.

Several of these beaches, including Eastmans Beach and Croquet Lawn Beach, line up along the 11km Bridport Walking Track. This walk takes in four different natural environments – foreshore, river, forest and wildflowers.
The wildflower section of the Bridport Walking Track is to the north near Adams Beach. Amid the Devonian granite rocks, thousands of flowers bloom in an area stretching up towards the Granite Point Conservation Reserve. Obviously, the Bridport Wildflower Reserve is best enjoyed in spring.

But if swimmers, flower-lovers and walkers will enjoy Bridport, golfers will probably enjoy it more. This Tasmanian town is home to the Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links, one of the most attractive coastal golf clubs in Australia. What was once a potato farm now hosts three spectacular golf courses.
These three courses – the Dunes, the Lost Farm and Bougle Run – are designe to follow the contours of the coastline. They’re in the true spirit of the links golf courses in Scotland and Ireland. Barnbougle also offers Bridport accommodation in cottages and villas.
