On the Geelong and Warrnambool Lines, Geelong train station is the public transport hub for the second largest city in Victoria. The location north-west of the CBD and limited parking means it is not as useful as it could be.

Geelong train station is the main station serving Geelong, the second largest city in Victoria, Australia. It is on both the Geelong train line and the Warrnambool Line.

The station is heritage-listed for its 19th century train shed, although it’s fair to say most people using Geelong train station aren’t especially interested in its history.

Geelong train station is just to the north-west of Geelong CBD. It is one block east of the Princes Highway, although access is at the eastern end via Railway Terrace. The station is an 800 metre walk from the Carousel on the Geelong Waterfront.

Geelong train station railway lines

The two lines that pass through Geelong train station are the Geelong Line and the Warrnambool Line. The latter is the one the Warrnambool to Melbourne train runs on. Melbourne to Geelong trains run along both. The only practical differences are that the Geelong Line continues on to South Geelong, Marshall and Waurn Ponds.

Geelong train station parking

There are two car parks next to Geelong train station, with free parking available for valid V/Line ticket holders only.

The larger of the two car parks is off Latrobe Terrace to the west of the station, but spaces are fairly limited. They can fill up with commuters heading into Melbourne pretty early in the day.
