Iluka to Yamba ferry: Clarence River ferry timetable & fare prices

The Iluka to Yamba connects two beach towns on either bank of the Clarence River mouth. Iluka to Yamba ferries leave four or five times per day, with one way fares costing $10.70.

Beachy hangout Yamba and its even quieter neighbour Iluka are two of the most unsung spots on the north coast of New South Wales. You’ll go past both on the drive from Canberra to Ballina, Sydney to Coolangatta or Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay.

But the two towns are separated by the Clarence River. And that’s where the Iluka to Yamba ferry comes in handy.

Iluka to Yamba distance and driving time

By car, the drive from Iluka to Yamba is 42km long. It takes about 35 minutes, and involves a hefty detour to cross the Clarence River over the Harwood Bridge.

The Clarence River ferry from Iluka to Yamba is much more direct. However, it is a passenger-only ferry, and you’ll have to get your timings right.

Iluka to Yamba ferry timetable

According to the Clarence River Ferries timetable, there are either four or five departures in each direction per day.

The first Iluka to Yamba ferry of the day leaves from the Iluka Boatshed and Marina at 08.45. There are further services at 10.15, 14.30 and 16.00.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, there is an extra Iluka to Yamba ferry service at 13.00.

Yamba to Iluka ferry times

In the opposite direction, the first Yamba to Iluka ferry departs from the Yamba Jetty on River Street at 09.30. There are three other services at 11.00, 15.15 and 16.45.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, there is an extra Yamba to Iluka ferry service at 13.45.

The ferry crossing takes around half an hour.
