Turners Beach, Yamba, is a decent place for swimming and surfing, but fish for mulloway from the South Break Wall forms a large part of the appeal.

What is Turners Beach?

Turners Beach is one of the main beaches in Yamba, New South Wales. It’s not a particularly long beach – it measures about 375 metres. But proximity to the town centre makes it popular.

Where is Turners Beach?

Turners Beach lies just south of the Clarence River Mouth. It is sandwiched between the South Break Wall and the Yamba Lighthouse on Clarence Head.

Yamba town centre lies just to the south-west, although neighbouring Yamba Main Beach is closer.

Is it safe to swim at Turners Beach, Yamba?

It is relatively safe to swim at Turners Beach, Yamba, although you should watch out for rips near the rocks.

This Yamba beach is patrolled by surf lifesavers during the summer season, and visitors are advised to swim between the flags.

Surfing at Turners Beach

Turners Beach, Yamba, does attract some surf, although waves are generally low to moderate due to the protection offered by the Break Wall and Clarence Head. It is a decent surf spot for beginners, however, and the Yamba Angourie Surf School is based here, offering lessons.

Other things to do at Turners Beach include fishing – the Break Wall is a very popular spot to cast a line. Mulloway is regularly caught here.

You’ll also find picnic tables in the park behind the beach, plus toilets and a car park.
