Jugiong, NSW: Things to do, Long Track Pantry & Sir George
Jugiong, NSW, is usually skipped by drivers of the Hume Highway. But things to do in Jugiong include Murrumbidgee River fishing, swimming at the Jugiong Pool and eating at the Long Track Pantry.
Jugiong, NSW, is a village that many pass through but not all that many stop at. It’s on the Murrumbidgee River, about half way between Goulburn and Wagga Wagga. More importantly, it’s on the Hume Highway, the main road connection Sydney and Melbourne.
This means you’ll pass Jugiong, NSW on several road trips. Melbourne to Canberra? You’re passing Jugiong on the Albury to Canberra leg. Sydney to Albury? Same. And ditto Sydney to Adelaide.

If swimming in the river unnerves you, then try the Jugiong Pool instead. This big outdoor pool is in the heart of the village, but it is only open during the summer months.
From there, it’s only a few steps to the Sergeant Parry Memorial. This commemorates a policeman who was killed by a bushranger. The Jugiong Showground is next to the Sergeant Parry Memorial, as are the two spots most likely to appeal to anyone having a pitstop in Jugiong.

Sir George in Jugiong, NSW
The Sir George is a fabulous old pub, originally built in 1852. It now has a bakery, a fabulous outdoor area and a food menu that dedicates itself to local produce and meats. The accommodation at the Sir George got a major revamp in 2015. Now you’ve got the choice of swish rooms in the renovated 19th century stables or more modern-looking digs in the stylised ‘black barns’. This Jugiong accommodation doesn’t come cheap, however – you’re looking at at least $355 a night. Book via the Sir George website.
Things to do in Jugiong, NSW: Long Track Pantry
The other excellent food option is the Long Track Pantry, which has developed a reputation much further afield than little Jugiong.
The pies and curries are fab, but it’s the goodies produced in small batches that make the Long Track Pantry special. It’s part-shop, too, so you can take those jams, chutneys, mueslis and lemon relishes away with you.
