Bridgeport Hotel, Murray Bridge: Why stay?

Bridgeport Hotel, Murray Bridge: Why stay?

The new-look Bridgeport Hotel in Murray Bridge, South Australia, comes with an infinity pool and rooms where you can control the temperature with your phone.

The Bridgeport Hotel is an ambitious new project in Murray Bridge, South Australia, that aims to boost tourism in the Murray River region.

This Murray Bridge Hotel is essentially a remake rather than a makeover. There has a been a Bridgeport Hotel here since 1884, but the new incarnation bears little resemblance to the old one. The $45 million rebuild project has brought a new 100 room hotel in the place of an old school pub.

Rooms at the new Bridgeport Hotel have king beds and high tech amenities. Guests with smartphones can use the phone as their room key if they wish. It can also be used to control the in-room temperature.

Rivergum Restaurant at the Bridgeport Hotel

Other highlights include the Rivergum Restaurant, which has an open kitchen so diners can watch their meals being made. The Rivergum Restaurant also has a terrace with fab views out over the Murray River.

The infinity pool is arguably what makes this Murray Bridge hotel stand out, however. It’s an unusual addition for regional Australia outside the classic tourist areas, and part of an attempt to make the hotel a destination in its own right. The pool also has its own bar, so you can stop for a cocktail or a cold beer after your swim.

The Bridgeport Hotel also has on-site parking, both undercover and open air, and a drive-through bottle shop.

Bridgeport Hotel room rates

Rooms cost from $159 per night, although prices fluctuate according to demand. For more information, visit the hotel website.

The Adelaide to Murray Bridge drive takes around an hour. You’ll pass by on the quickest inland route from Adelaide to Melbourne.
